Biggest rotating Vesak Lantern constructed in the western World. Los Angeles, California, USA


Sarathchandra Buddhist Center in Los Angeles, California, USA is building the biggest rotating Vesak Lantern constructed in the western World. It will be open for public display from the 12th May 2012.

The lantern is 25 feet in height and contains 24 peripheral lanterns. Over 300 light bulbs illuminate it in different colors. The lantern is been constructed under the guidance of Ven. Panditha Ambalanthota Kolitha thera and Ven. Yatiravana Siriniwasa thera, the resident monks of the temple. Niroshan Kahawatte is the designer and Ajith Bentarage engineers the Mechanical and electrical lighting aspects of the mega project. Paper carvings are designed by Suriya Kumara Jayalath. Anusha Boteju, Indika Boteju, Mahesh Fernando Buddhika, Thushara Karunatillaka and many other devotees participate in this project. The project is sponsored by Mayanthi and Ruwan Kotuwelle of Vinu Global Travels.
